Plymouth UDHC Urban Downhill - Preview

Check out this great preview of the Plymouth Urban Downhill thats set to take place on the 28th and 29th September on the campus of Plymouth university!

Built off the back of three successful years at Plymouth University campus, the Urban Downhill Mountain Bike Race returns with another action packed day. Thrills, some spills and plenty of excitement is guaranteed as 150 riders battle it out to find the Urban Downhill Champion for 2013. The track uses the manmade features of the university as riders negotiate railings, steps, banked turns and even the odd car in their mission to get to the bottom of the hill as fast as possible.

Brainchild of Plymouth University graduate Jon Catney the event has seen three successful and action packed years under the name UDHC. Over the years the event has helped 3 local charities, seen over 350 riders and more than 7,000 spectators from all localities filter through as well as gaining vast amounts of coverage in the media.

Now heading up the events team at Plymouth’s Shred Limited, Catney is excited about the event for 2013, “I am stoked to be taking this event forward for a fourth year, the extra fire power of the team at Shred and the huge growth of not only Plymouth Uni but also Plymouth in general should help cement this event into the city’s annual programme for many years to come. The hills of central Plymouth are sometimes seen as a bad thing for cycling but they’re perfect for an urban downhill!”

The race is set to return at the end of the Plymouth University freshers week, 28th September and is set to be a huge step up from previous years with more activities for all throughout the day. This year promises to provide a fresh course with new challenges, new sponsors and more entertainment during the day and well into the night!

This years race is open to anyone aged 13+. Cost of entry is £25 for anyone aged 13-14 & £30 for aged 15+. There’s an after party for riders over 18.
